Rotary and the Dictionary Project
The Dictionary Project is a
501(c) (3) nonprofit organization. The goal of this program is to
assist all students in completing the school year as good writers,
active readers and creative thinkers by providing students with their
own personal dictionary. The dictionaries are a gift to each student to
use at school and at home for years to come.
Rotary Clubs have been involved in the program since it started 7 years ago. In fact, last year Rotary accounted for 51% of total donations. Our own Gene Day of District 5400 received special recognition since Idaho is one of the states in which nearly all 3rd graders in the whole state received a dictionary this year. Get this: in 2007-2008, Rotary nationwide distributed 1,207,757 dictionaries!
