Our District Simplified Grant on its Way To Peru!
Here's a copy of the announcement we received from Bob Rainville regarding our DSG. Our contribution will be $1,000. :
Dear Partners in the New Hope Orphanage Bakery Project: I am pleased to inform you that our project to install a bakery at the New Hope Orphanage in Arequipa Peru has been approved for matching grant funding by The Rotary Foundation. This is a wonderful project that will not only provide bake goods and a source of income for the orphanage, but will also provide life skills to for the 45 to 60 orphans who live at the facility. At this time, we need to collect donations from all of the participating Rotary Clubs so that we can send them to the Foundation.
After I receive donations from all our clubs, I will work with John Verity and our partners at the Rotary Club of Yanahuara in Arequipa, Peru to complete the paperwork and forward all our donations to the Rotary Foundations. To demonstrate the difference our partnership is making in people's lives, I have attached the trailing message that John Verity received from two of the leaders of the orphanage:
Dear John: I just spoke with Bertin after getting your Email... we were both speechless! We cannot believe, it is like a dream come true for all of us! Thank you John and all that have worked so hard to make this a reality, this will have such an impact on the home and the community here, we have desired for years to have a fully-functioning bakery here at New Hope! We are so looking forward to seeing you in Arequipa John for the dedication and ceremony of the Panaderia Nueva Esperanza.
