News From Ecuador
Dear Partners,
I
recently received this message from Jorge Ordonez. Our Ecuadorian
partner for the Segua water project is the Bahia de Caraquez Rotary
Club. Jorge is our primary contact with that club.
In
his message, Jorge informs us that the Foundation has sent them the
check for the Segua water project. The Bahia de Caraquez Rotary Club
is very happy that the funding has arrived. He tells us that the
community of Segua is very happy that their dream will come true
through the cooperation of Districts 4400 and 5150 (he forgot list
5400, but he knows we are also critical partners) and the Foundation.
He has included photos of the check, the presentation of the check to
their club's President, and of the location of the pipeline that will
be built with this project. The spreadsheet lists the items and work
that will be purchased with funds from this project.
Jorge
indicates that he has no words to express his immense appreciation for
our support in making possible this marvelous project to bring this
vital liquid to homes in this community. He asks that recipients of
his message forward it to the Rotary Clubs who are supporting this
project.
When
I visited Segua in June, I learned that the planning and engineering
for this project have been completed. They have completed three
similar projects earlier, so I anticipate that the project will begin
soon.
I
want to add my thanks to you and your clubs for joining together to
make this project possible. During my visit, I actually did hear
residents describe the delivery of safe drinking water to their
community as a dream they thought would never happen.
I will continue to keep you informed as our project proceeds.
