Four of us Emmett Rotarians and our spouses attended the "Million Dollar Dinner" put on by D5400 last weekend at the Canyon Crest Event Center in Twin Falls. Event organizers finally reached $935,000 in bequest commitments! Close enough to call it a success! Attending were Terry and Dottie Jones, John and Linda Biggs, Vicky and Dennis Page and Ron and Marilyn Bjorkman.

The featured speaker was Carolyn Jones, a long time Rotarian from Anchorage, Alaska. She was first woman to join District 5010 and was the first woman trustee of the Rotary Foundation. Rotary first admitted women in 1987. She told us about her work with the Eagles Nest Orphanage in Tomsk, Russia, where many of the children were sickened from accidents at nearby nuclear plants.

See photos from the event in our Photo Journal section on the home page.

By the way, you think our District Governor Terry has it bad, covering nearly the whole state of Idaho.......Carolyn Jones was DG of District 5010 in 1995-96. That district covers all of Alaska, western Canada and Eastern Russia! The largest District in the Galaxy, it covers 11 time zones!
